One of the most exciting and rewarding experiences in YPA is starting a new Service-Chapter (click here to request a Chapter Starting Kit). Gathering your peers together under the roof of YPA will build friendships and memories while serving your community and nation.

What is a YPA Service-Chapter?
A Service-Chapter is basically a club for high school and college students across America to get together and connect community service to political discussion. YPA Service-Chapters embrace the organization's nonpartisan spirit and encourage stimulating discourse that relates to firsthand action.

YPA Service-Chapter members hold weekly meetings and participate in at least one community service activity per month. The national YPA pays Service-Chapters $10 for each dues-paying member. This money is meant for a Service-Chapter's monthly community service activity. Member dues (to be paid to the national YPA) are $3 for high school students and $5 for college students.

For example: High school Service-Chapter members pay dues of $3 to the national YPA and $3 to their own local Service-Chapter. Once a Service-Chapter registers and pays its dues at www.ypa.org/chapters, the national YPA provides $10 to the Service-Chapter for each member that year. So, if a Service-Chapter has 15 members, the Chapter is required to send $45 to the national YPA, and $45 to their Chapter treasury. Once the national YPA receives a Service-Chapter's online registration and dues, we pay the Chapter $150.

In this example, the Service-Chapter will have $195 for the year to spend on monthly community service activities. You may be wondering why we ask for dues if we eventually return dues to Service-Chapters. This is to ensure accountability so that YPA only funds Service-Chapters for actual members.

Service-Chapters are also expected to fill out a Monthly Report Card found at www.ypa.org/chapters. This Report Card is used by the YPA organization to ensure that Service Chapters are performing well and to address any problems that may arise.
